Day 8 of no gluten and Day 1 of Bikram!
We took pictures and measurements this morning! I opted not to look at the pictures until the 60-day challenge is over! The measurements showed a little positive change, which is a great feeling! Especially since the place that showed the most change was the waistline! I am feeling more energized and I am sleeping better!
For breakfast we made an egg scramble with onions, bell peppers, and grilled chicken! So tasty! I also enjoyed my sun dried tomato basil bread with some butter! This meal would have been even better with coffee but since I had Bikram at 2:15, it was lovely H2O for me today!
I feel like this was the most water I have drunk in a long time, and I will be consuming even more water over the next 59 days! People think taking a huge jug of water into class is going to help them survive the class but it's really the water you drink BEFORE class that helps you survive!
This was my first time in the hot room since September so I told myself just to stay in the room and try every posture, even if it was not my best posture ever! One of the things that the teachers really try to drive home is that not matter how "great" your posture looks, as long as you are doing everything they tell you to do, you will gain all of the benefits from that posture! It was such a great first time back in the hot room and I feel especially grateful for how amazing the people are at Pure Bikram Yoga! I found out this weekend that a work study spot opened up, and they are giving it to me! For those who do not know what that is, it's pretty much gold :-) I work one shift a week and I get unlimited yoga for $30 a month and free unlimited use of towels and mats (i.e. less laundry on my part)! Kathy was so encouraging before, during, and after class! I think she was one of my saving graces today! All in all, I am feeling really great after today's class! Oh, and to help rehydrate, my lovely fiancee bought me coconut water for my post workout beverage!
We were both starving so dinner came early tonight but it was still so delicious! We put that grill to good use and I am already feeling more like a "grill novice" instead of a "grill pansy!" Sarah bought some steak tips from a local store across the street, the Meat House! They advertise that their sauces are gluten free, such a courteous thing to do! I am noticing that a lot of local places in Austin know what options are gluten free, even when it comes to name-brand products! Okay, back to the amazing dinner! We tried both steak tips marinated in "Meat House" marinade, and tips marinated in a red wine sauce! My mouth is watering just thinking about them! We finished the meal off with some roasted sweet potatoes and a salad! Did you know that a lot of salad dressings are NOT gluten free?!? Check out this line: SASS dressings Of course it's local :-)
Sarah bought me/us an asparagus fern today to symbolize the start of my 60 day challenge. She said it will grow as my strength, willpower, and inner peace grow! Isn't it precious?! It's a great addition to our present from Kendra! I cannot wait to see it tomorrow morning to give me encouragement :-)
