Day 9 of gf and Day 2 of Bikram!
Last night, I bought this gluten free, whey protein powder from Sprouts! It's called Chocolate Fudge and for breakfast I mixed it with that Chameleon coffee and almond milk! Talk about a good-for-you latte! I can't wait to try that again real soon! I also made some scrambled eggs and put that on my sun-dried tomato basil bread! Yummy!
I was feeling yesterday's yoga class today! Every time I sat down or crawled around on the floor with a kiddo, I was reminded that I have hip muscles! I really tried to focus on maintaining my core strong today instead of slouching on my hips! It's easier said than done. But hopefully after 60 days of "engaging my core" for 90 minutes, I will be doing it more naturally when I'm not in the hot room!
Lunch consisted of leftovers from last night but today I was able to try out my new gluten free salad dressing, and boy was it tasty! I made myself CHUG water during lunch and throughout the day! Thankfully at work today we got a water cooler! Now it's going to be even easier for me to maintain my hydration while chasing kids around the gym!
Tonight's yoga practice was a good one, minus the cramping in my feet! The teacher told me to drink sea salts. I have tried drinking this brine solution made from Himalayan salts before and I only lasted several days. Tonight before class, I chugged a 6 oz glass of water with it, not my favorite cup of water, but hopefully over time it will help eliminate the cramping! I told myself that the best thing to do tonight was just to complete all 26 postures, and that it did not matter how great they were! As long as I was listening to what Afton told us and I made the correct adjustments, I was benefitting completely from it. Also during one of our Savasana postures, I realized that I am not very flexible in class but I am very determined to try my best, even when I just want to find every excuse in the book not to do the next posture. As I was lying there, I realized that these characteristics of mine show up in my every day life! I challenged myself to try and be more flexible in my life (i.e. don't be completely rigid over little things, and allow others to offer suggestions) and maybe I would become more flexible in the hot room over time!
This can be one of the most challenging and at the same time, the most rewarding posture! Read about it here: Dead Body Pose
My lovely fiancee had an AMAZING dinner waiting for me when I walked in the door! Grilled chicken and brussels sprouts on that lovely grill of ours! (Thanks Dad!!!!) She also made me gluten free garlic bread using my Udi's white bread, gf butter and garlic powder! So tasty and exactly what the body needed after dripping with sweat! Also enjoyed a coconut water as my "reward beverage" for the evening!
Here is the handy little "report card" they give you to keep track of your classes! Every 10 classes, I get a free class pass to give to a friend! Sarah said she is going to go with me on days that I really need the encouragement :-) I'll have to cash in that coupon for one of my 5:45 a.m. classes!
Also, when you reach 50 classes, you have reached "Jalapeno" status, then 55 classes gets you "Serrano" status, and all 60 classes makes you as hot as a "Habanero" pepper! Can't wait :-)
